On October 1, 2001 Marubeni-Itochu Steel Inc (“MISI”) was launched as of the joint venture of Itochu Corporation (“Itochu”) and Marubeni Corporation (“Marubeni”) steel product divisions. The combined expertise of “Marubeni”, one of the largest Japanese trading companies in the world and “Itochu” (formerly C. Itoh and Co., Ltd.), a company covering a broad spectrum of industries, enabled MISI to expand their existing large supplier foundation to benefit customers across the globe.

In 2001 Marubeni-Itochu Steel Inc. established a 100% owned subsidiary company in Australia , named Marubeni-Itochu Steel Oceania Pty Ltd (“ MISO ”). The company is based in Melbourne and has gone from strength to strength since its establishment.
